A personal note from Dr. Prasad: "With the financial markets in turbulence and the sluggish economy, many of my friends and patients are concerned about their future employment and the possibility they may be forced to seek new jobs. Some are concerned that potential employers will evaluate their looks as well as their skills. Men and women in their mid-40s or early 50s are not only competing against much younger individuals, they are also being interviewed and judged by people who may be 20 years younger. Quick anti-aging remedies such as Botox Cosmetic and Juvederm can refresh your appearance by eliminating lines on your forehead, around your eyes, around your mouth, and frown lines. Although you may feel stressed, you probably don't want to look stressed! "

Question from Jennifer in Lynbrook, NY: I have a bit of fat hanging from my chin, no matter how thin I get. What is the best way to get rid of it?

Dr. Prasad: I recommend Cool Liposuction to eliminate small, targeted areas of fat, such as in the chin. In my opinion, Cool Liposuction is one of the most advanced liposuction techniques available. It works by using a laser to liquefy the fat for quicker, easier and more efficient removal. Cool Lipo requires the most minor incision which fades to nothing over time, and most importantly, it tightens the skin around the areas being treated. Cool Liposuction of the chin eliminates fat deposits from under the chin, while toning and tightening the skin. Chin liposuction can help individuals with double chins attain a stronger profile. Some chin liposuction patients combine Cool Lipo with a chin implant to further enhance their results. Because the face is so visible, chin liposuction can drastically change the way people are viewed both by others and themselves. While chin liposuction removes minimal amounts of fat, it often makes patients appear pounds lighter and years younger. In a chin liposuction procedure, the incisions are hidden by the jaw line and are usually very small. I find that most of my patients recover very quickly, and many can return to work the next day after the procedure!

Question from Kim in Glen Cove, NY: I have been thinking about getting my upper eyelids done. Gravity has taken over and they are drooping so much, they really bother me. But I was wondering if there are any special things I need to consider for Asian eyelids?

Dr. Prasad: Yes, the Asian eyelid is different from the Caucasion eyelid in many ways. A common mistake that plastic surgeons can make is trying to "Americanize" or "Europeanize" the Asian eyelid, which can result in a very unnatural appearance. I believe the best approach is to ensure you retain your natural characteristics, but just energize and rejuvenate your eyes for a more youthful appearance. Asian eyes require delicate finesse when refining the upper lid folds. I always want to ensure that I am rejuvenating your appearance without marring the natural beauty of your eye. Some of my Asian patients seek the "double eyelid fold" procedure, which gives the upper eyelid a visible crease when the eye is open.

Question from Rachael in Commack, NY: I used to have pretty, full lips. But they have gotten thinner with age. How can I get them to look fuller, without looking ridiculous and unnatural?

Dr. Prasad: The truth is that as you age, you tend to lose the fullness in your lips. I use Juvederm to fill the lips. It is made from a natural substance (hyalauronic acid) that your body produces. Therefore, there is no allergic reaction to Juvederm. We numb the area as though you were in "the dentist chair, " and gently fill your lips with Juvederm to the desired look. I believe less is more. Start slowly, you can always add. Juvederm in the lips should last about five months. Fuller lips definitely soften a person's face and make them look more youthful.
